Pure 49 second over all in Baltic 500 race!

Jun 6

Our PURE 49 "Gorre" just finished second on line honors in the legendary Baltic 500 doublehand race.

Start of the race was on Thursday 29th may in Kiel, the 500 nautical mile course was set north to Denmark, through the great belt and Kattegat, around the island of Laesø and back again through the Copenhagen Sund. The weather kept everything in stock from nice summer breezes, to strong winds over 35 knots and a total calm some 70 miles to the finish.

Line honors winner was the latest Class 40 model, a fullblood ocean racer skippered by the German sailing Pro’s Lennart Burke and Melwin Fink, with an elapsed time of 2 days, 6 hours and 8 minutes. Congratulations for a spotless start-finish win.

Second over the line some 8 hours later was our PURE 49 "Gorre", skippered by our PURE YACHTS founders Matthias Schernikau and Urs Kohler. Considering that several more serious race yachts including one other Class 40 came in behind them, this was quite a stunning result – and yet another proof how well outstanding sailing performance and the concept of a rugged aluminium explorer go together in a PURE YACHT.
